What is the du Football Champions (duFC)?

It is a ground breaking UAE youth football tournament featuring the UAE Schools and Streets Cups and conducted in partnership with LaLiga. Designed to provide youth with access to a pro football career and nurture their talent at a grassroots level on an unprecedented scale, du Football Champions is the ultimate youth football competition for boys and girls in the UAE.

The initiative’s mission is to further youth football excellence by providing a platform for players to showcase their talents and be discovered. For the first time ever in the nation, there is now a platform for scouting homegrown talent.

LaLiga, is partnering with the UAE Schools Cup and Streets Cup to support the initiative. It is the first partnership of its kind here in the UAE where a leading European football league commits to scouting for talent and providing training for them in the world’s best state-of-the-art football facilities. LaLiga will be providing professional league coaches from Spain who will not only scout, but also mentor players.

In addition, internationally renowned ex-Real Madrid football legend and LaLiga Global Ambassador Michel Salgado is the Championship director and will be present at the matches. Scouts from LaLiga will be present at all matches looking for top talents to scout into the du LaLiga HPC platform.

What is the UAE Schools Cup?

du Football Champion’s UAE Schools Cup, in partnership with LaLiga, is set to change the face of youth football athletics in the UAE with the most sought after competition on the UAE sports calendar. It is open to boys aged 11-16. Schools can register one team in each of two categories: Boys U14 and Boys U16. It is free and open to all schools in the UAE.

The Cup will be played in 3 locations:

  • Abu Dhabi
  • Northern Emirates
  • Dubai

The Schools Cup runs concurrently with the Streets Cup.

What is the UAE Streets Cup?

The du Football Champion’s Streets Cup, in partnership with LaLiga, is the definitive boys football tournament in the UAE.

It is open for all boys aged 14-16. Teams can register if they make their own team of 7-10 players. It’s free and open to all who meet the age requirement.

The Streets Cup runs concurrently with the Schools Cup.

The Cup will be played in 3 locations:

  • Abu Dhabi
  • Northern Emirates
  • Dubai

What is the UAE Girls Challenge?

The UAE Girls Challenge, is set to change the face of youth football athletics in the UAE with the most sought after competition on the UAE sports calendar. It is open to all girls. Girls teams can either be registered through their school, or as an independent team of friends. It is free and open to all girls across the UAE.

The Cup will be played in 3 locations:

  • Abu Dhabi
  • Northern Emirates
  • Dubai

Who can play in the championship?

Boys and girls aged 11-18 from across the UAE can play on their school teams in the UAE Schools Cup in one of these three categories:

  • Boys U14: born 1 Sept. 2002 - 31 Aug. 2004
  • Boys U16: born 1 Sept. 2000 - 31 Aug. 2002
  • Girls: born on or after Sept 1, 1998

Boys from 14-16 years old born from 1 Sept. 2000 – 31 August 2002 who create their own teams can play in the UAE Streets Cup.

How much is it to join du Football Champions?

Registration is free, but limited to du customers.

How can I sign up?

How do I complete my registration?

Schools Team:

  • Visit https://www.dufc.ae/schoolsCup/ and fill out the applicants details for at least 7 players (including a du phone number for each player.)
  • Once the coach has submitted the online form each player must SMS ‘duFC’ to 9294 to receive a personal promo code. *
  • Each player must give the coach: copy of Emirates ID (front and back,) recent passport photo, signed parent’s waiver form (which the coach will have a copy of) and the promo code.
  • The coach will receive a username and password and they will log in at http://www.dufc.ae/TeamManager/ to upload documents for each player: copy of Emirates ID (front and back,) recent passport photo, signed parent’s waiver form, and promo code.
  • Registration is Complete: The team will be registered when every document, photo and promo code has been uploaded.
  • *Each player must SMS ‘duFC’ to 9294 to receive their promo code from the same number the coach registered them with online.

Streets Team:

  • Visit https://www.dufc.ae/schoolsCup/ and fill out the applicants details for at least 7 players (including a du phone number for each player.)
  • Once the Team Captain has submitted the online form each player must SMS ‘duFC’ to 9294 to receive a personal promo code. *
  • Each player must give the Team Captain: copy of Emirates ID (front and back,) recent passport photo, signed parent’s waiver form (which the coach will have a copy of) and their promo code they received.
  • The Team Captain will receive a username and password and they will log in at http://www.dufc.ae/TeamManager/ to upload documents for each player: copy of Emirates ID (front and back,) recent passport photo, signed parent’s waiver form, and promo code.
  • Registration is Complete: The team will be registered when every document, photo and promo code has been uploaded.
  • *Each player must SMS ‘duFC’ to 9294 to receive their promo code from the same number the coach registered them with online.

Where will the du Football Champions games be held?

Both Cups will run concurrently with each other. School teams and Streets teams from Al Ain, Abu Dhabi city, Dubai and the Northern Emirates will play their group and qualifying stages locally at Al Ain Football Club, Zayed Sports City Abu Dhabi, The Sevens Dubai, Al Hamriya Football Club Sharjah, respectively.

National semifinals will be played at The Sevens, Dubai and the finals will be played on the Dubai Mall ice rink.

What are the prizes for the du Football Champions?

Winners in the Boys U16 and U14 categories will travel to Spain to watch a Real Madrid match live at Saint Bernabeu Stadium and train with Real Madrid coaches.

Girls will win a trip to England to watch a Manchester United match live at Old Trafford and receive a day training clinic with Manchester United coaches.

Winners from the Streets Cup will travel to Spain to watch a Real Madrid match live at Saint Bernabeu Stadium and train with Real Madrid coaches.

Additionally LaLiga scouts will be selecting for top talents throughout the Championship.

Scouted boys will be trained by coaches from LaLiga in Dubai, with the opportunity to be selected to go on 21-day all expenses paid trip to train, play competitive matches with LaLiga’s best youth football clubs, and enjoy football tourism in Spain. Players who demonstrate further potential may earn a football trial with one of the top clubs in LaLiga.

What is the High Performance Centre?

The first ever global initiative for LaLiga enabling the youth across the UAE to train to become future national, regional and international pro-footballers

The HPC is by invitation only and restricted to top talents selected by LaLiga scouts

The HPC will be staffed by a world-class team and UEFA Certified Coaches Developing physical, mental and technical aspects of players to maximize their chances for a pro-football career.

The HPC will have a revolving squad made up of under-18 players scouted nationwide through the du Football Champions platform. The program will be led by Head Coach Rafael Gil, with Enrique Gonzalez working as Assistant Head Coach and Juan Ruiz as the Performance Coach.

Is there anything else happening at the championship?

There will be organized activities and activations on the ground for the whole family to enjoy. There will be lots of prizes and giveaways throughout the tournament for players and spectators and everyone is encouraged to be a part of it.

How many teams can one person play on?

One. You can only be registered in one Cup on one team in one category.

Can I play for a club and still participate in the du Football Champions?

Yes, we welcome all players regardless of their training regimen.

How many players are there on a team?

For the UAE Schools Cup, each team is made up of 12 players, 7 on the pitch and 5 in reserve.

For the UAE Streets Cup, each team is made up of 10 players, 7 on the pitch and 3 in reserve.

For the UAE Girls Championship, each team is made up of 12 players, 7 on the pitch and 5 in reserve.

How long are the matches?

The matches are made up of two 12-minute halves with a 5 minute halftime.
