Returning Champs British School Al Khubairat dominate at duFC Abu Dhabi Week 1
· Abu Dhabi and Al Ain players come out in droves to fulfill their dreams of talent discovery
Abu Dhabi, UAE – 14 November 2018: Season 4 of du Football Champions (duFC), the only international scouting platform in partnership with LaLiga and home of the official UAE Schools and Streets Cups, has successfully kicked off in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. Comprising of a full day of matches, hundreds of eager footballers took to the region’s football pitches for the first day of competition to help their teams to the top of the leaderboard and impress the LaLiga scouts, who are on the lookout for rising talent to be selected for trials and to join the prestigious du LaLiga High Performance Centre (HPC).
“Year-on-year, we are seeing an improvement in the quality of the youth football talent on the pitch. I believe selecting the top talents this season will certainly be a challesnge for our team. We look forward to welcoming new members to the du LaLiga High Performance Centre team this year, both girls and boys, who will join the fantastic talents selected from previous seasons, to pursue their dreams for pro-football careers” said Fernando Sanz, LaLiga Director General, MENA and duFC Tournament Director.
All players were honed into one target as the season got underway: winning the coveted Championship title in March 2019. Vying for supremacy, season 4 saw the return of many teams – the first among them being the reigning Season 3 Champions, British School Al Khubairat, who displayed a show of strength in their first outing. The Falcon School team showed they are also driven to push ahead and avoid a repeat of the mistakes that prevented them from reaching the Finals last season.
Several Abu Dhabi and Al Ain players impressed LaLiga scouts whom they added to their short-list for potential trials at HPC. These are talents who demonstrate their potential to be developed at pro-standards.
This year, talented players can double their chances to be discovered with the launch of du Talents, du’s digital scouting platform, allowing them to upload their profile and achievements.
Sibling duo from Al Suqour Government school in Abu Dhabi Musalam and Taeeb Mohamed, both caught the attention of spectators & scouts with their distinctive play making ability and team work.
UAE Schools Cup
In Abu Dhabi, BSAK teams in each category won all their matches securing automatic qualification into the knock round. Al Dhafra Private School boys U16 squeezed into the lead of group A just ahead of contenders Al Nahda School. In the U14 category, Sa’ad Bin Moa’ath Government School leads Group B and Abu Indian School Al Muroor takes group C. In U12, ADNOC schools secured the lead winning all their games. And in Al Ain Al Dhaher takes group A U12.
UAE Streets Cup
Players returned this year with renewed energy and high hopes for glory. Returning season 3 qualifiers TNK Boys in Abu Dhabi won 3 straight games and are looking good for a second run on the championships. Al Ain saw the return of Classic Team who also tops their group.

du Football Champions is a nationwide initiative featuring the UAE’s official Schools Cup and Streets Cup and is the only international youth football scouting platform in partnership with LaLiga. Conducted in partnership with the Ministry of Education, Dubai Sports Council, Abu Dhabi Sports Council and Sharjah Sports Council, du Football Champions aims to achieve sustainable human development through the discovery of promising talents, who will raise the bar on sports excellence at local and national levels as they aim to become the next generation of professional male and female footballers.
Played to world-class standards, the Cups are conducted at a national level and played in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and the Northern Emirates. The Championship is open to boys and girls aged 10-17 and will pave the way for youth to cultivate their sporting talents and aptitudes by enabling them to participate either through their school or together with their friends.
