Dubai, UAE, 26 Feb 2019 – du Football Champions, in partnership with LaLiga, wraps up the group stages of the Dubai Leg, revealing the teams facing off in next weekend’s knockout stage.
The International School of Choueifat sweeps all UAE Schools Cup categories, qualifying for the knockouts in the Boys U18, U16, U14, and U12 categories.
Speaking about the teams, Former Real Madrid Youth Coach and Head LaLiga Scout, David Iglesias said: “Over the last 4 years, schools like Choueifat have consistently produced strong teams with excellent players, many of whom have been scouted by du LaLiga HPC.”
The LaLiga coaches work closely with the du LaLiga HPC players making sure that not only do they work hard on the pitch, that they are also working hard academically.
du Football Champions 2018 U12 finalists, Lycée Francais George Pompidou and Dubai National School (DNS) Al Twar faced-off against each other in the group stages this weekend in a heated battle that ended in a 2-2 draw. Both teams have qualified for the Dubai knockouts. Commenting on the teams going forward in U12, DNS Al Twar Coach Hossam Elmzwdy said, “Although it’s going to be a tough competition with the French (LFIGP), The English (DESC), Choueifat and us, this year, we are determined to bring home the trophy!” Spectators are guaranteed the best U12 football in the country.
Day three in of the Dubai Leg saw a record number of games played in one day this year. “We refereed 92 games today. One of the standout teams has got to be 3yal_Zayed U14,” said Referee Walid Essam. “This is a great group of boys who play with such discipline and finesse. They clearly love the sport and their coach, and they are such a joy to watch,” he added. 3ayel_Zayed qualified in both Streets Cup U16 and U14, with their eye on the prize, they have proven to be serious contenders this year.
Finally, with the launch of du Talents’ third challenge one talented footballer stands the chance to win the grand prize – a ticket to the El Clasico, LaLiga’s most anticipated match of the year.
